No snow, ice is rough here on the river.
Haven't been to Rice, but believe it's not much better.
SNOW starts about 10 miles west of Ironwood Mi. and is good to the
east of there so we hear anyway,
so heading that way for new-years weekend!
Good luck

If you want real snow go east 66 miles of Ashland. They just got 7" of snow Friday night in the U.P. I did some kiting on Lake Gogebic on Saturday in the fluffy suff. It's about 5 miles long and 2 miles wide at the north end. Plenty of fresh snow! Went there to kite on Sunday, but the wind never showed so spent the afternoon boarding at Black Jack.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up,totally worn out and loudly proclaiming. WOW! What a ride!!

I was kiting north of Two Harbors and the conditions were good. There seems to be a lot more snow, or should I just say snow, up there. I went out on Christianson Lake and the conditions were good. About 3-4 inches of snow with solid ice. Not much or really any of the patchy ice. Apparently, north of Duluth is (Island Lake/Rice Lake) is glare ice but haven't been up there to confirm. Good Luck.
