Sunday would be perfect, I don't have to work. But I'll take what I can get! With a front moving through I think Sunday afternoon/evening and Monday maybe the best oppurtunities, provided the sky's are not electric. Thanks guys, it is nice to have people to rely on with more weather knowledge than I.

Looks like decent SE wind Sunday, 13-14 knots in the afternoon.

But, the next "windy" day? I vote for Sept 12, 2003. Can we start a betting pool? :-)

I bet the next windy day is when you are stuck at work and cannot get out.
As the old joke say's " What follows 2 days of no wind?.....Monday".

Hi everyone, I have never sailed on Spirit Lake. Can anyone give me directions to the good sites on Spirit Lake for Sunday?
Thanks,
Jan

There is a brief description in the lakes section of this site. If you have the time GO THERE. I wish I could. Spirit is an amazing lake. Clean, huge rollers on the North end, winds seem steader than elsewhere, sandy beach launches, great mature oak stand campground on west side....can't be beat.

Here's some rambling from a session I had there 6 years ago...

LAKE: Spirit Lake Iowa
DATE: October 11,1997

STORY:I died on my 35th birthday... and let me tell you about Heaven. First there is no chop. The water is smooth rollers and large ramps, with plenty of faces to ride downwind to your hearts content. The warm wind charges at you all day without relent, making your itty bitty 4.0m the perfect sail. Jumps are lofty and high, without a perception of weight. Landings remind you of the first kiss, on the first date. The sun dances on the water all day and at the end it turns bright red, igniting the water before exchanging places with the piercing moon. Your vocabulary has been reduced to very few words: wow, thank you, I love this sport, cooka munga. The name of the lake is appropriate: Spirit Lake.

Sunday is still looking great for Spirit. Tighe, your words about sailing Spirit are in inspiring, even for a local who experiences these things regularly. Jan, the best way to Spirit from Eden Prairie is the 169 route. Hope to see some of you down here.
