South Padre Vs Bird Island / Corpus Christi ?

Looking for info from folks that have been to South padre and Bird Island/Corpus Christi.

What are the pros and cons for each place (as you see it) ?? i only windsuf no kitting.

Looking to go the last of Oct.

Corpus - Variety of sailing - True bump and jump in the bay, Waves @ Packery and Aransas, Flat Water @Bird Island. Also, awesome rental facility http://www.worldwinds.net at Bird Island Basin. They have all the latest '06 gear. Plenty of hotel/condo options as well.

SPI - last time I was down there was '90. Great sailing at the Flats and good wavesailing on the gulf side. Not sure what the rental situation for windsurfing gear is. I'm sure on of the regulars will weigh in...JRN, steveb?

There are good WS gear options at SPI:

Windsurf Inc.- Have not used, but have heard good things.

Windsurf The Boatyard- I have used several times. Jibber hangs at the North Flats. Just show up or much better contact him ahead of time for gear. Nice because he delivers to the Flats beach.

Both have web sites also I believe.
