MN Kite Diva's Clinic

Post by Emily »

I am currently trying to get "Kite Girl" to come to Minnesota to put on a clinic. Claudia Nygard has been kiting since 1999 and is the first PASA certified woman instructor. She goes around the country putting on clinics for women and it turns out that her husband is from Minnesota!! I have always thought she was pretty cool. You can read more about her at her site http://www.kitegirl.com

I have emailed Claudia and I will see what will work for her and her husband. I am in the process of emailing kite and gear companies to see if they would sponsor this event to help with the expenses of it so that the cost is lower for all of the participants.

Here is what I am thinking so far for the clinic.

It would be at Mille Lacs and I would like to offer a Sat and Sun clinic in Jan or Feb ( mayby thinking of this as a Valentine's Day gift ). All ages welcome. I would like to either offer...

1 day lesson for either beginner (trainer kite, safety) or advanced (riding upwind/jumping) You can sign up for either day or both. I can only take 6 ladies each day (unless we have other instructors that would volunteer their services - only condition is that you cannot have your significant other in your group)

or

a 2 day progressive lesson. Come out both days at any level. The group will then be divided by ability to be assigned to an instructor. Must sign up for both days.

What I need from the kite Community...
1. I need to know who I can count on to help with the instruction. I can only take 3 ladies per instructor. I would really like to try have as many certified instructors as possible. I sent an email to Claudia asking who can be an instructor and I will let you know the qualification as I get them.

2. How many women out there are interested in this clinic?

Which clinic option are you more interested in?

Would sign up for one day or two?

An estimate for expense will be about $150/day. Lesson will run from 9-3:30 (hopefully, I have to confirm times with Claudia also) with lunch included. (this is still about half the cost of any kite school) The more instructors and ladies we can get the lower the cost of the clinic will be. It will also be less if there are any companies out there that want to sponsor the clinic.

Please keep in mind that is an estimate for cost. I would really like to think that it will not cost more than that but I cannot make any promises.

More questions you can either call me at 218.391.0797 or email me at esaude@mnkiting.com I really want this to come together!!! Please post or contact me if you are interested and I will reserve you a spot!!

Thanks!!!!!!!

As a new "student" to the sport, I am interested. By the time you are planning this event, I hope to be well past the beginner level, but time will tell. Both events sound good, but the two-day event is my preference.

Great!! Glad to see that you are interested. I am also emailling you a profile to file out for the women kiters here in MN. I will keep you on the mailing list of information regarding the clinic and any other women's events.
