Red Lake

Post by npetrack »

Forecast for Red Lake on sunday. WNW 24-29 gust to 35. This place is well worth the drive on a big day. Red has bigger swell than any other place in Minnesota that we've been to. Have a good sailing day we sailed 5.0 meter yesterday on 80 liter boards and it should be windier today.

Red Lake is north of Bemidji in Northwestern MN by the RED LAKE reservation. Its a huge body of water with long sand beaches

Only the east side of upper red is accesable, so if it is blowing east, you might be in trouble. The west end and all of lower are on a reservation, and they will confiscate your gear in you cross the line, even in the middle of the lake. Might be a great spot for west wind, but why not just go to Malmo, save the extra three hours of driving. They do get some great snow up there in the winter, might be fun to hit some epic pow for a weekend. Lots of fish houses to jump over as well. That's all I know about it.
