any type of string? would the control lines work?
Yeah, control lines are fine. Just like the instructions on the Slingshot site mention, make a larks head knot around the bladder's end with the end of the control line. The cloth sewn over the loop will help to not tear the bladder.

Yep, control lines work well. So would anything else. I fixed a couple of LE holes in my cabrina with simple bike patches. - Jerome
