I use Coppertone Sport pump spray in the blue bottle, and I only seem to have the bites on areas that were not sprayed. The stuff is waterproof and goes on like spray paint. It seems that it may have some repellent effect against these little suckers.

Copper?

How about sort of a chain-mail suit made out of pennies? Then, dust yourself with sulfur powder. You'll need a HUGE PFD, kite & board to get going, but that should increase sales and be good for the industry. JN

Well, that explains it. I was at Waconia Friday late afternoon and have about 10 bites on both legs where my suit was. Wasn't sure if it was swimmer's itch or chiggers as i was also working in the yard and in some weeds that weekend too.

At least the itching is starting to get better today

Has the application of bug spray been tried as a preventative? The 3M Ultrathon stuff looks like something to try. I'm trying it next time. These little things suck.
