Lake Mille Lacs on Sunday

Post by tjlydonjr »

Hi everybody,

I was told that there would be some people on Mille Lacs (Malmo) on sunday. I just wanted to say I'm planning on going to go down (from superior, wi) and I would love to meet you guys. I'm going to be at malmo 9-10am.

I'm a complete newbie. My first water kiting session was this last wednesday on lake superior's WI Point. The wind was 20 to 25mph and I had a 20m yarga with a 130 wlf board. I was planning in no time flat. The waves were difficult to manage as they tended to pull my board off my feet if you didn't hit them right. But I LOVED every second of it!

I'm hoping to see some people there and learn as much as I can from anyone willing to give me advice.

My contact info is:
email: tjlydonjr@hotmail.com
cell phone: 218-391-2018

Hope to see you there,
TJ

I've never been to Mille and was doing some reading here. Would Hunters point be better than Malmo? It sounds like they are talking a western wind. A friend of mine and I are planning on heading up.

hunters point would be straight onshore. you guys should hit reddy, that'd be sideshore, or malmo which would be sideon. the wind might be a little cleaner at malmo on a straight west... but reddy pretty much is the sweetest place ever.

Tyson - you haven't riden malmo on a west wind yet, you might change your mind. The break is so far out and the wave get massive. My favorite direction is west wind at malmo. Unless you are a pole boarder, hunters point is a bad idea. The launch totally sucks compared to malmo. I can't wait untill tomorrow. No wind all day today even though the graph was predicting 13 mph.
