More Gathering info.July 8th and 9th

Post by steveb »

Jamie Richardson has committed that he will attend the gathering, Jamie will be bringing a nice big wakeboard boat with a 12 foot tower, just in case theres not perfect wind. If you've been thinking of learning to kite, wakeboarding is a great way to improve your board skills.
E.T has said he will come too, E.T. is our local rep for Cabrinha and Ozone kites, I hope he may have one of the new Contras to demo, secondly E.T also sells Kayaks so make sure you bring your life jackets, Mille Lacs is a riot to paddle on especially if their is a little swell.
We'll keep you updated as we get more news about the GATHERING.

Here are a few other places to try out if you fell like a cabin on the lake.

Fisher's Resort - 1 mile form Malmo
1-866-684-2221

Agate Bay - 3 miles from Malmo
320-684-2233

Also, it seams as though the party will be centered at Pete's retreat. It's a new campground about a quarter mile from the malmo access. They have a group camp site with tent access only, several picnic tables and a fire ring. Sounds good to me. Scott Ridout reserved the site for the weekend. There are offically 7 sites avalible with four people allowed in each, with another 5 dollars a night per person over four. Scott has the reservations so if he could post up the particulars that would be great.

Pete's also has RV sites avalible, but you might want to reserve those soon, call: 1-866-578-7275

My house is also avalible for the weekend, nice yard and some beds. If you don't mind the 6 mile drive from malmo after the party you can always crash here. My # is 320-684-2055.

Hope to see a crew up for the gathering, it should be a blast.

New Kiter for The Gathering?

Post by tjlydonjr »

My name is TJ (Thomas) Lydon. I live in Superior, WI. I'm new to kiteboarding, I have a 20m Yarga by Best.

I have only been kiting on the bay in Superior in the winter once. I did ok. Got upwind, even did alittle jump (with a 10.0 crash landing)!

I am planning on coming down for The Gathering July 7-9. I reserved a tent site at Pete's (I hope that's ok) and I have a 6 man tent with just me staying in it, so if anyone needs a tent your more than welcome to stay in mine.

I'm going out on the bay today. I'm very excited and a little nervous.

Looking forward to meeting all of you.

I hope to make it up there for this event ... M. Lacs is the best lake in Mn that I've been on!

I just have to make sure I'm ready for my (2-year) trip to Finland - I'm heading there for for graduate school. Sounds like there are definitely some kiters there in the winter! I'll send some pics. updates every once in awhile.

My departure from the twin cities is ~July 7th and I'll be on the plane to finland July31st. I will def. be riding before I leave! Mille Lacs or Superior is a must.

Was great getting to know such a nice community of kiters and windsurfers!
