Kiting San Francisco

Post by Denis »

I'm gonna be in SF in a couple of weeks and I am thinking of dragging my 14m Slingshot Fuel with me. Anyone knows about good spots, preferably far from sharks? :D I might consider renting some equipment too. Any recommendations on local shops and local shools?

Thanks
Denis

try them:
Berkeley Boardsports
843 Gilman Street
Berkeley, CA 94703-1424
Phone: (510) 527-7873

Somebody I know was renting windsurfing from them, I do not know about kiting. You can sail of beach in Alameda.

From San Francisco
Cross Bay Bridge (I-80 East) and stay in right lane
Exit 880 South toward Oakland/San Jose
Exit Alameda/Broadway
Turn right @ 1st stoplight onto 5th St.
Continue on 5th St. for approx. 1 mile and get in the left lane
The left lane will fork left slightly @ Broadway and lead to the Webster St. Tube
Drive through the Webster Tube, staying in the left lane
As you exit the tube in the left lane, follow the signs to Constitution Way
Continue driving straight on Constitution Way
Constitution will turn into 8th St.
8th St. intersects Otis Dr. at the entrance of Crown Beach Memorial Park
Turn right onto Otis to enter Crown Beach Memorial Park
Parking Kiosk is to the left (parking fee required on weekends)
Go through the parking kiosk and follow road to the water
THE SHACK is on the left

Thanks for the tips guys. I called both Paul from ooto.com and Berkeley Boardsports. Paul is really spendy, but the guys at Boardsports might not go out, depending on the wind. I was talking to Tighe and I think that he has a good point that I should look for someone to work at my level. Paul wants me to start from ground school.

I think that I'll just show up at the Boardsports shop and talk to them. At least I'll be able to get some tips if the wind is down. Then, if they don't go out, I can go visit Alcatraz. 8)
