The USHGA Needs You to Take Action
Help Open Powerless Flying in National Parks
You can respond through the NPS web site at: http://www.nps.gov/.
Click on "Draft 2006 NPS Management Policies"
Then on "Comment on Document"
Your comments should cover the following points.
You support the NPS policies to protect park resources and values;
NPS lands offer some of the best opportunities for us to enjoy our nation's natural resource from a unique vantage point;
The current policy and rule does not simplify the administration of hang gliding and paragliding and is a burden on the NPS, park managers, and the flying community;
Urge the NPS to adopt policies and rules that do not require a Special Use Regulation before hang gliding and paragliding are allowed in the park;
Encourage the NPS to work with the USHGA in the development of a new policy and rule.
More detailed information is on the USHGA web site http://www.ushga.org/action_park.asp.
Thanks in advance for your response to this important issue. We are aware of other organizations at work writing letters to the NPS, who do not want to see any change in the current policy.
