Mille Lacs Saturday

Post by Mike B »

I am planning to go to Mille Lacs Saturday. :D Garrison looks like the best location for the predicted Southeast winds at 11-13 knots. The snow conditions should be good. There was a lot of snow on Tuesday and they havn't been as warm as down here. Driving on the lake at Garrison is no problem - 18" of ice. I shoud be there about 11:00.

call me on my cell if you want to find me or check conditions. 651-343-2469

If there's wind and snow, I'm headed there, too. Should be at Garrison about the same time. Mike, if you have a change of plans/launches, please give me a call.

We need Brian the isobar man to weigh in. Only iwindsurf shows wind at Mill Lacs that I can see. I want to believe it, but............

Look @ the lakes section of the iwindsurf forecasts. Hope they're right! I'd like some more rides on the big fishbowl. Have to check out the current conditions in the morning. Jeff, I'll throw in those freebee skis so you can check'em out, if I decide to go. Jim N.

I use sailflow.com and it is usually quite accurate. I have their subscription service that I use for sailing in the summer. Their models have more detail and take the lake surface area into account.

I think they use the same forcast that iwindsurf uses. They may be the same base company actually.

All in all, Mille Lacks always seems to have more wind that any areas around it. I'm planning on making the trip. A bad day kiting is still beter than doing chores around the house.

From my experience you guys are crazy to come up here tomorrow, its lookin really dead :( . I'd wait until sunday, that looks much better. Whatever you decide, Mike is right, a bad day of kiting is better than doing chores.

It looks like there will some good wind in Garrison by noon or later.....unless the high to our East stalls, but as of now (10:00 am) it's moving out. Can't make it myself, have a good one.

Just got back from Millie. IT WAS GREAT!!!!!

Mike B & I got to Garrison about 11:00 AM to find 10 - 14 mph winds from the SE. Snow cover/conditions were EXCELLENT! No ice just level hard pack.

Along with Mike B and I there were about five other kiters & families out there to include Todd H. Pual and others (sorry I don't remember names very well). A good time was had by all!

It will be a great location for the Kite Jam!
