Stroh,
I was in Key West last April and it was Awesome!. If you are able to go to the flats which are 4miles off the coast of key west to the north. I went out with Nick at the Kitehouse. Good contact if you need info on the area. Also look at 7 kiteboarding. I believe they are in Islamorada which is closer to Marathon key than Key west.
When I was there, it blew 20-25 everyday and the water was warm and I couldn't see another boat for miles. In the flats it is only 3-4 ft. deep everywhere except the boat channels and you can stop where ever and stand like north shore of mille. (except the bottom is sea grasses, so make sure to take booties.)
You'll love it there. Makes me want to book a trip out of here just thinking about it.
Have fun.....

Hey Stroh,
I spent a week down in Key West right before Xmas, not a puff of wind (my luck) but I went through Paul at kitehouse too because there are no launch sites at all for certain winds (west wind there are no launches at all on Key West) Paul will also let you know some of the good launch sites for the rest of the Keys. What I did was book through kitehouse one day out of my trip, so at least I had a local contact down there, and they have a bunch of Cabrina demo stuff so if are interested in that you can use their stuff. Also, there is a new shop opening in Key West in January, you might want to check the internet and see if you can get ahold of them.
anyhow, I live in Jacksonville right now and if there is wind I might head down for a weekend or so, give me a shout when you get into town,

I've been down to the Keys a few times. There are two schools - Paul at the Kitehouse and Brad at Seven Sports. I stay in Islamorada and have taken a few lessons with Brad.
Seven Sports is located at mile marker 82. Another good place to kite is at Anne's Beach which is at MM72.
Once you get down there you could call Brad Lange and ask for other suggestions closer to Marathon.
Its trickier to find good spots on the Bay side mostlybecause of the power lines.
The flats make for very firendly riding. The only concern is getting pulled into the currents in the channels..
Thanks for all the info guys
I herd bahea honda is a great spot....
I am going down with my dad so I can stay on his boat and he has agreeed to take me where ever I wanted, I plan on checking out the flats this way
also I know about some sandbars close to marathon that I can get to with the litle rescue boat.
I know I will find some place to ride
I will try to check out all the spots giving the wind conditions

My daughter Hannah & her husband Kevin Jewett are in Key West. Spoke with them about 1/2 hour ago. They are down competing in "Keywest Race Week" (sailboat)
They spent Christmas with us and we enjoyed watching some "Kiting on the Bean". it was a bit foggy but enjoyed watching the kite loome in and out of the "clouds".
Races start on Monday webcams cover the event (as there are perhaps 4.000 sailors @ Keywest) warm tropical isles sound quite inviting.
Kevin was invited to crew "Melges #24" "All or Nothing" , so...I'll sit here watching and living vicariously thru them!
