Fast!

Post by Mike W »

We have some very fast ice on our hands boys and girls. I was clocking runs near 30mph this morning on Calhoun in wind that was about 10mph or maybe less. That was on a 21m kite. If we could get a decent 25-30mph wind day, I bet someone around here could break 70mph with this crusty ice.

Milly has great conditions you just need find the right spot
the north side has 15-16 inches of ice (safe for driveing out on)
and about 3-6 inches of crusty snow

the south side has 18 inches of ice and about 5 inches fast crusty snow with drifts of fresh sticky snow

Tim, it would be pretty hairy on a snowboard. I would go to the polo field or up north if you want snow for your board.

Another year for speed - if we don't have the powder, mine as well go fast. Medicine Lake had the same conditions today with thin layers of saturated snow and big icy patches with good edging. Still fun with a few 40+mph rides in sub 15mph winds and a big kite.

Come on wind.

Mike,

That is what I said about Tonka yesterday. Someone should be able to set a speed record, if they use downhill skies. A bow kite might do it too. They are good for speed runs.
