Hey crew!

Hows the ice on Minnetonka?
Frozen yet, snow covered?
Do we still have a chance at Black Ice there?

We got about 3 feet of snow in the hills of Hood River!
Check out this unusual Gorge kiting spot:

Could be even better tomorrow!

ride on AP

3 feet? sweet! Great to see the site back up and live. Let us live vicariously through your adventures mon.

Winter has come in early this year to the land of ten thosand lakes, which is great. Temps have dropped significantly over the last two weeks and haven't broken the 25 degree mark since. We get snowfalls of a half to 4 inches almost daily so the fields have a great base. Most lakes are frozen and rapidly becoming ridable. Unfortunately there hasn't been much wind. Hard to tell if the snow will completely blow off with the next wind or not. I haven't been on the lake since Saturday's dump to know weather or not it's bonding. This whole week looks to be cold and windless.

Hope we see you back here a bit this winter. Always a pleasure.

We might be in luck for the snow bonding,
the sun might help and we are predicted to warm up to like 40 over the weekend  lets hope this at least leaves us a nice edge-able crust, and dosn't all melt away.

Thats awesome! i wish we have 3 feet of snow, but I guess I cant complain we got about 7-8 inches of dust, which is a lot better than we have done in previous years. Hopefully it sticks to the ice, but I dont think that minnetonka is totally frozen yet, or at least last time I checked it was open. Then this weekend might ruin it for us, if it gets too warm for too long, the snows going to melt, if it just gets kind of warm for a short amount of time, were gonna have a crust on six inches of dust, which sucks for riding on.

Anyway Alex I like the new site a lot! Really nice set up! Hopefully were gonna be seeing some of u guys around here this winter.

Tonka report:

The main bay (Browns Bay) where Kite Island is, is not frozen. So there is a chance for black ice still on Tonka. Not sure about Wayzta Bay. Carman Bay & Spring Park Bay froze solid Saturday night. The freeze, up to that point was very uneven, with some areas at 2.5" and others at 1/4" Sunday morn. With these cold temps you can get 5/8" ice every night, so these 2 bays should be safe by Saturday. Carry your ice rescue, picks.

Lydiard Swim beach on Carman Bay has been modified so up 5 to 10 cars can park 25' from the water, nice and level. Fairly good from E thru W. S is best. N is not. Till this year you had to park 3 blocks from ice. Crescent Beach is good for N, same bay, plenty of parking. Not a huge fetch but it's frozen.

I will give a full ice report on Thurs-Fri. By then I should have manually checked the ice in many spots. Some snow may be adhered in areas that froze earlier in the week.

I'm sure Swede would be safe by then also.

Hi Alex, It's great to hear from you. We got up to North Long a few weeks ago for some perfect black ice, don't know why that lake freezes so early but it's a great season opener. Jerry and I got out for a surprise low wind session yesterday on Washington...perfect untracked powder, so it won't be long before the big lakes are ready. Then we'll have both black ice and snow. Better get your plane ticket. See ya soon.
