Do you know French?

Post by Tighe »

Here's the translation of the text for the last and final day of the Winter Tour. The translation is so confusing I can't tell if Alex won overall or just one of the classifications...Classes?

Click the link at the left to get the French version.

a little rusty...

Post by Coach »

My french is pretty rusty, but it looks like they have multiple events (for the whole tour?) down the bottom right. Each event has three classes, ski/snowboard/women.

AP took the skiing class for this latest event. It also looks like the previous event was "provisional", whatever that means. I'm guessing it meant the wind was sketchy to non-existent.

It also sounds like the wind for the finals was either light or weak, and they made the previous day's results the final standings so the long-distance travellers could bolt. Sunday was just and exhibition. Sound familiar? Just like the kitefreeze... :)

Anyway, congrats AP!

Here's my own translation of the page. Even in French, it was still not clear what all the results meant. Apparently, Alex won the Ski section. Way to go, A.P.! But this competition seems to also be part of a bigger tour with 4 stages total. Anyway, here's the story.

Corona Extra Winter Tour – Semnoz/Saturday – Day 6 (final)

This Saturday, we had to, once again, wait for the wind for a good portion of the day… It was nevertheless the chance to find out the winners of this competition, and at the same time, to know the winners of the France Championships.

Still no wind!
Big sun, huge blue sky, once more all the ingredients were present except the most important one, the wind!!! The latter makes a shy apparition during the early afternoon, allowing Alex Peterson, Romain Fabretti and Fabrice Tripier-Mondancin to offer quite a nice show, but finally disappears just like it came!!!

The forecasts remaining on the pessimist side for Sunday which is the last day of the competition, the organizing committee decided to totally free the competitors, namely the Norwegians and Americans on this Saturday afternoon, leaving Sunday for a simple exhibition for the competitors wishing to participate. It still allows a heat in each discipline. This stage of the Corona Extra Winter Tour at Semnoz is the occasion to designate, for now, the best competitors of the week, but also to find out the winners of the France Champions for Ski, Snowboard and Women disciplines after the first French stage at “Col du Lautaret”!!! As for the winner of the International Winter Tour, everything is still possible at Geilo in Norway, from March 31st to April 6th for the final stage of the Corona Extra Winter Tour!!!

Bon Jour

What a great time! Got to kite with some pretty crazy Euros, jump higher than ever and eat some cheese. Yes, they split the skis and snowboards into seperate catagories, also gave the French thier own champion. The views were amazing, the food terrific, and the people are super cool.
Thanks for the local support, you guys rule.

If you click on the little Brittish flag in the upper-left corner of the
