The only bad part is the rental kite turned like a truck, but it seemed fairly new or at least it was in good shape. Maybe I'm spoiled by my Slingshots.
Jibe's has put the local kids to work, pumping up kites, launching, and bring folks in. I started on a 16 and it was too much. No problem, have one of the local beach boys catch your kite and pump you up a 14. I rented complete gear for 2 hours for about $40.
I came directly home after Mui Ne which was the only problem.
Mui Ne, Vietnam -> Okoboji, IA = 42 hours (although a Typhoon near Tokyo slowed me down 3+ hours.)
