Lost Board!(And some good advice for everybody)

Post by Hunter Welles »

Unfortunately today when I was out riding I lost my slingshot Jarvis riding today at malmo. I was out pretty far from shore and maybe even upwind of reddy. If anybody finds the board please call 612-280-1315. The board does not have my name or phone number on the board which is a huge mistake. For anybody that does not have their name and number on the board you should definately put it on there. Just because you dont think that it wont happen to you doesnt mean that it cant.

I live in Isle, and I am always looking towards Malmo to sail - believe me, if I find it, I will let you know - I'll put the word out to my colleagues at school (I teach in/at the world's best school - Onamia) to keep an eye on the shore for something that looks 'alive', but won't bite.

I know a lot of people are hesitant to write their names on their boards, but I agree with Hunter...don't be foolish. You can loose your board.

If you don't want to alter your board, put a sticker on it and write your name on the sticker. Maybe one of you guys who are on better terms with Aaron, might suggest he make up some cool "Property of.." stickers on his sticker machine. Otherwise good old duct tape would work as well.

I don't think these boards are ever taken, people who find them just don't know what to do with them.

You can use a Sharpie which is permanent but can be wiped right off with Acetone. Acetone will damage some surfaces. Test an area first.

Speaking as someone who also lost a board (on Waconia), these are all good ideas. Just do *something* to get your name and info on the board.

As for my (previous) board, if you have a grey 4'11" Naish Mutant you found at Waconia any time in the past couple of years... Please give it back! :-)

Eric that would be awesome if you could do that and if you can spread the word of the lost board up to the guys at mille lacs.

Just did that. left a note on the message board at Carlsona, right next to reedy. What was the wind direction when you lost it? Where do you think it would end up?

The wind was blowing a kind of side on at Malmo and a perfect on at Reddy. Then out where I lost the board it was very onshore to in the direction of Reddy. If i were to make a guess of where it would be it is over in front of the houses to the left of reddy when you are looking at the water(I dont know exact directions but I hope this helps)

I'd say it was between Carlsona and the inlet at Malmo. Hard to say the way the wind fans out at the top of the lake. Hope you get it back Hunter.
