Cannon was sweet!!

Post by jim lehman »

I was at work and keep looking outdoors and could not take it anymore, I left at noon. I went to Cannon, they received about 6 inches of new, soft snow. The lake is totally covered, with thick ice and lots of snow. Even the open water in the middle is solid. It was perfect, North winds at about 14-17. They should receive more snow over the next couple of days. It was great!

To start preparing for water starts(summer) I was practising laying on my back and letting the kite pull me up with consistent power. Would this simulate deep water starts?

sounds sweet.

yes you can simulate a water start with a snowboard fairly well. Sitting down with the nose of the board in the direction you'll be going facing downwind, dive the kite and hold your edge, once up point downwind and turn the power to speed. Then start edging across the wind again, so as to not stall the kite by going toward it too much.

fun stuff.
