between the bloody lines?

Holy Crap! Was I the only one to take T's suggestion literally? I thought he actually meant physically going to a different location to Kite or Wind-
surf. I blinked, and a couple of posts later we're into this metaphorical cum metaphysical/ geopoltical discussion. Personally, though I feel we're all entitled to our opinions, I enjoy this site and our sport for the very reason that it is one place in life where I don't have to deal with those issues.... I prefer to hear about sails, kites, boards and sessions, instead of having to care about left or right, god or country, peace or war. You have every right to freedom of expression, but is this the place to do it? :( Jim N.

Jim:

You don't have to read EVERY post on the site... Personally, I pick and choose all the time depending on my mood.

Peace, love, and free-spirited sailing, dude. :-)

Once again as moderator of this forum I am presented with a challenge...

I personally feel that my pursuit of the wind, actually my pursiut of anything mirrors my pursuit of everything...lessons transfer, understanding about myself and others is the same, etc. So personally I enjoy reading others posts about connections to other aspects of their lives that they've discovered or understood thru their ride.

And, my original post was to literally try another lake.

I don't think we can expect to have every post be something of value to everyone. As long as we keep the dialog positive and non promotional, I think tangents are worth taking.

So as Coach recommended, if you start reading a thread and it isn't of interest, move on. There's plenty more.

ride on

Tighe - I think you should spend more time attempting to "tame" the Bear  Sorry - couldn't resist.

We found a new spot here in the Cedar Rapids area. The spot is a wetland just east of HWY 380. It is connected to Coralville Res. The area is knee to waist deep for at least a couple of hundred acres. Nice grass surrounds the water. Setup and launch is a cinch...self or assisted. We kited all day last Saturday in the steadiest of winds (for Iowa). Guys have avoided it due to a fear of stumps. However, we were all over the area and found it to be very clear of debris and stumps. The only thing is running over a 2 or 3 foot carp...no kidding. I'm, obviously, pretty excited about the spot due to the poor wind we get at the deep water spots. It is, by far, the cleanest wind we have in this area.

On the down side...stand in one spot and you'll be knee deep in mud...pretty dirty.

sounds like a sweet spot. We've been hunting for a spot like that up here since we began kiting.

enjoy

I know there are more spots out there. We'll find em. We live in this area covered with lakes. There has to be some we have not discovered. The ones like gbgreen59 found won't have cabins all around them either. Keep up the hunt!

I guess I must have found it interesting after all, since it did ellicit a reaction...besides, if I didn't read every post, it would mean I'd actually have to GET A LIFE!! So, go crazy go nuts, get metaphysical, rhetorical,
geopolitical, psuedo-scientific. It'll at least make for interesting reading
if the doldrums set in. J.N.

Jim... I agree with your last posting. Man you're bright!.
I don't think there is anything wrong with people expressing opinions, thoughts etc. Maybe I'm wrong but I think of everyone on Lakawa as a friend, lord knows when we meet we always get along and have fun. I think it's nice to know a little more about your friends than what they ride. But that's just my retorical , political and to quote someone directly "group hugging" opinion!.
