Melanoma Monday

Post by Don S »

This coming Monday, May 2nd, the Dermatology Department at the U of M Medical School will again be offering free skin cancer screening at two different locations in the twin cities. The screening lasts only a couple minutes although the wait can be as long as an hour.

Several years ag, I went to the screening expecting everything to be fine. They found a spot that needed fruther analysis and I was told to see a Dermatologist. The spot was cut off and examined and it was determined to be precancerous and needed to be surgically removed. I was lucky!

The attached link is from last years screening, however I called Administrative Secretary for the Dermatology Dept. at 612-626-4454 and was told that the locations and times would be the same. Call her for more info.

I do not work at the U and have no connections to anyone connected with the screening. I'm offering this post only as a opportunity for other who love to play in the sun.

extremely valuable Don. Thanks for posting this. I will be going. 25+ years riding the wind, getting double sun exposure (direct and reflected) puts me in a high risk category.

Early detection is key

thanks
