I will probably be heading north on Thursday as well. We'll probably just go for the day. The winds are looking sweet.

Looks like there is some snow in the forecast for the Mille Lacs region as well. The big lake could use a few more inches.

Jason, please keep us updated on any snowfall amounts.

yes I had the 9,13,17m quiver in 03. They are great kites. You may want to through on a 5th line for reluanching on snow in light winds.

Don't know if you'll use it on thursday though. The winds look significant.

I'd say 14-24 for powered up riding. You may be able to ride in less on fast snow or just to ride. I think higher than 25 would be a handfull.

Jeff G. has the same kite...jeff?

I am not set on Mille Lacs yet. Last week the snow cover on the lake was pretty thin and hard. Sounds like Sturgeon had quite a bit more snow.

The wind is forecast from the East, so if Mille Lacs is the call, and the snow is better on the North end, then Reddy Creek or further west.

Hopefully Jason can give us a comparison, as our northern guide.

Wish I could join you guys, but I'm stuck at work until the weekend. I don't feel qualified to give much advice on kiting, but I'd say Tighe got the wind range of the 15 meter Fuel about right. On smooth, crusty snow and a snowboard I can cruise around in about 10 to 12 mph. 15 is just about perfect for me. And you need a little more wind in deeper snow of course. I've got a fifth line connected to a "y" bridal on the trailing edge. Mike Winter added short connecting lines at the ends of the two battens on either side of the center one. Alex helped me set up the fifth line. It works great.

I'm with you Stroh, let's go for the snow. Nothing like the buttery wind of Mille Lacs though. If mille lacs has snow and wind it would be the call.

Sturgeon looks like it would be ok from the east. Anyone know if there is any hills to the east of Sturgeon?

Tighe.

There is an embankment on the south end of the lake. If you stay on the north end of the lake near the public water access you'll have a pretty much direct east wind blowing over an open field onto the lake. East wind on that end would work good. Have fun, I have to work. Boo..
