What an exciting day. The winds cooperated and most kiters were powered up on 12-16m tube kites and 6-12m foils. Vojta and Mike designed an amazing course and spent the early morning coloring the ramps, 1/4 pipes, and kickers. Redbull ran a very smooth operation.

Today was a day to see how everyone looked and create tomorrow's heats. It was mentioned that if there were light winds the rest of the weekend that today's performance would determine the results.

So essentially it was a free for all, with Vojta and Motz judging most of the day. Most of the kites were in the air throughout the day. It was great to see all the color, all the brands, and all the different styles of riding.

There were some great performers, from our local scene as well as many who traveled from far to get here. The tricks were all over the board. Low technical stuff, and big sick moves. Snowboards, skis, foils and tubes, front wards, backwards, upsidedown. I saw some moves I had never seen or even imagined before.

The stoke was everywhere. Very little complaining, no one overly competitive, everyone having fun.

Sorry so general though I'm heading to bed. I'm going to try and grab a dawn patrol in the early winds.

I made to the Freeze about 3:00 on Friday. The wind was good and the sky was filled with kites. It was an awesome site. So much color. So much action. Volta & crew have done a great job putting this together. Here are some pics:

Thanks for the words of imagery, Tighe, and the actual images, Barry! Glad the wind was strong enough this morning (Sat) for you to get some nice reaches, Tighe, and thanks for the heads-up on Hope Beach (?) for S. Padre later this week!!!
