Re: Starboard Catamaran
I've completed switched to kiting except windsurf about 6-8x a year with my now 8 yr old daughter. We each go out on our own boards but attached by rope. We have a great time but if there is only one sail then this concept doesn't seem too different from us taking my real catamaran out for a ride. ...

Re: Give him your thoughts
I have had some good experience with this site http://www.caringbridge.org/ which is purpose designed for this exact situation. I guess Coaches wife or family would have to create the account but it really is a nice site designed for people dealing with serious health issues and allows well wishers ...

Re: Impact Vests and Life Jackets
I use the Neil Pryde Vest also. Has a nice pocket for carrying stuff. Not too bulky. I use a seat harness so I'm not sure how this would work for waist, but it is called "high hook". I kite solo so much that I wear it almost every session. Saved my butt on some self rescues, when I got too...

Kudos to Rob Evans winning E-Scow Invitational!
Rob Evans, fellow kiteborder, won the E Invitational last weekend, on Minnetonka, against the best E sailors across much of the country. Rob must hold more wins in the most types of sail craft than anyone in the country. If you ever pass him on a tack upwind consider yourself very lucky. Great job R...

Re: Driftlaunch troubles
Here is the YouTube video link. The video is only good for showing the actual release of the kite. All the important work is already done. Someday we need to post a good video of the Minnesota self launch. It is a skill that is easy to do if taught correctly, but can be a kitemare if done incorrectl...

Tom, try looking for a used one. I just nabbed a T3 14 off of classifieds, a couple of weeks ago for $650, that appears to have been used very little. Might keep an eye on Ebay.

Re: Thoughts from a new rider - by Patty Hoben
Great observations Patty! I think a Session or a Door can make all the difference as Steveb says also. A Door board turns a water start into a no brainer, almost like being on snow. My son at 8 yrs old water started on a Session at Malmo. First time up he road 400 ft. The board was a non-issue. He d...

Got a short session on Tonka (Carman Bay) today, until the wind shut down. Good to be back on the water. Everything should open up tomorrow with the rain.

Re: KNIVES & FRIENDS!
Tom I got mine at http://www.scubatoys.com $17. Its called "Zeagle Line Cutter". Their site was down when I just tried today though. For mounting I used "GOOP", in the marine version which seems to stick like hell. Takes a while to set though. Have to hold it in place somehow for...

Re: KNIVES & FRIENDS!
Sorry Jim, kind busy here, I forgot to say glad your OK. I had a kitemare similar to that last winter. Bad news. I use to carry a knife in a fabric pouch which was worthless. The Dakine ones on the back of the harness are even less accessible. I've seen some other mounts on LAKAWA. Once you decide o...

Re: KNIVES & FRIENDS!
This is my water helmet. On my winter helmet the knife is mounted top center. Which is easy to reach with either hand. Photo makes knife look extra large. Haven't had to use it yet, thankfully.

Re: Idaho Snowkite Soldiers Event
Tighe, I found this post on KF yesterday. Has some nice photos from the place you kited (I think). What an awesome spot. That whole area around Fairfield is a kiters paradise. Check out the snow/land section at KF. There are usually posts about new spots every winter. It still is the Wild Wild West ...

Re: Updating the Advisors Section
Mike, I think you should take me off the advisers section for Cabrinha. I ride Cabbies & SS but I wouldn't call myself a Cabrinha expert any longer. Still love my Contra 17m but they quit making it. :( I am one of the lone Flysurfer users though. I have a 19m Silver Arrow for light winds in the ...

Great work Tighe. How did you get a hold of the Shadowcam Rig. Did you buy that rig or make your own? I emailed those guys last year and didn't get any response.

Re: lakes and fields shot!!!
Tonka is Toast. There probably are spots where the snow has remained or some has drifted in, but there are large areas of chunky ice now. I'm sure some rideable areas exist on Tonka but every bay will be different. My bay (Carman) is crap. We need another dump now.

Thats funny Steve,
I also have a broken right ankle (with a screw in it). Salomons always killed my feet!!
One thing that I always do is make sure my boot is nice and hot when I put it on. Then it seems to mold better as it cools down.
