Re: Mille Lacs Crossing March 1st-3rd
great time this last weekend everyone and happy to meet some kiters! I saw there was another photographer out there on Sunday snapping some pictures. He gave me his card before the race, but it must have fallen out of my pocket during the crossing. Anyone happen to know him or have his website? Than...

Re: Mille Lacs Crossing March 1st-3rd
Hey all, I recently signed up but am a bit worried about the low wind forecasted for this weekend. As I haven't been to the crossing in the last couple of years, what would happen to the event if a wind isn't strong enough? Postponed? Cancelled? other? Cheers!

Re: What do you do to cross train?
I personally think running long distances is the best to keep your legs super strong. Anything around an hour long (doesn't matter the actual distance). I believe it's similar to the pounding your body gets from kiting or downhill skiing. I imagine cross country skiing could be similar, but I find t...

Re: Can I bust out my skis yet?
Just got back from Da Bear! Wind was perfect for the 10M foil. snow was smooth and well bonded to ice. Let 'em rip!

Can I bust out my skis yet?
Hey snow kiters! I have yet to be out this year on the lakes due to the lack of snow. Has anyone been out near a lake since that last storm? Was it enough snow to cover the lakes and bond to the lake ice, that is, can I take my skis out yet? I'd really like to escape work early today and hit up Da B...

Re: Saturday
out on Waconia today. Wind was really variable and snow was rough, but we had a pretty good day. Surprised to not see anyone else out there on a nice saturday! Ice was thick, but creaking and cracking a LOT... kind of freaky!

Re: Can any of you experienced riders rate todays (tues) win
I was out on white bear with a 10M foil yesterday. was overpowered some, but definitely could handle it. Its my second year kiting and I've come a long way so far... i remember my first couple of times in strong wind and being constantly overpowered and unable to ride far upwind. Today was the first...

Has anybody done any riding up in the fargo area? Lakes or terrain?
My friend recently moved up there and I'd like to visit him and to take advantage of windy North Dakota.

Re: Lake Calhoun
There is typically quite a bit of kiting going at calhoun during this time of year. Snow was great the other week after the 4-5 inch storm we got, but haven't been out there recently. I would avoid going to Calhoun with any sort of wind coming out of the N/NW - the city buildings make the wind reall...

Re: Ice Thickness
You can also get more information on any lake in MN at this website: http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/lakefind/index.html I've mostly been checking this site for lake depth. As some have saying, swede has been frozen for a long time (its max depth is only ~12 ft) whereas calhoun takes forever to freeze be...

Conditions Tues. AM?
contemplating getting up early AM tomorrow and hitting the wind early.
thoughts on the snow?
IMHO - It was warm today, but its going to freeze overnight and be cold. I would think the snow would be rock hard and might be difficult to kite on - thoughts?

Ice Screw on WBL
So first time out this weekend and it was soooo fun!
BUT, i left my ice screw out on the south side of white bear lake. I doubt anyone ran into it/saw it, but in case you did i'd like it back!
Looking forward to more windy days!
cheers,
matt
