Normannnnn

You misunderstood. I'm in MN too. Actually Duluth for my nephews wedding. No SPI reports from me. Not even WBL on Sunday. Maybe SPI in the spring. I was hoping for a report from Mike

SPI North Flats sounds like a sweet deal. Got an on-site report?

Looking forward to checking it out when I can get there.

Re: Please Read - No Tresspassing Waconia

Ken, Tighe, Mike, etc. Thanks for the posts. Looks like I am the loner. As I told someone earlier this year, it's not a complete season of kiting for me if I don't end up on that "beach" at least once a year. I have asked their permission, twice, to use their land. Once I walked up to the ...

Re: waconia this afternoon.

Ken It's not a complete year of kiting for me if I don't end up in that little cove at least once. I have spoken with the owners and they do appreciate it if you ask about leaving your gear on their "beach" while you go get your car, etc. Of course, it's after the fact as you've already cr...

Re: Door county / baileys harbor this weekend?

Geo I've had a similar experience in Door County. Our cabin is about 20 miles south of Bialeys Harbor on the lake. We face about the same direction, maybe even a little more west. The south wind is always a good 5 - 10 knots stronger in BH. Nothing behind us but forest. Maybe that cuts down on the t...

Jason

I think those are mine. I put them down and couldn't find them later. XL DaKine fill finger gloves. White leathery material with red patches at knuckle flexion points?

Thanks. Bill

Re: Golf Bag

I've had 2 "golf" bags. I think that the first was a Mystic and it worked well until the airlines got tough on weight. The bag itself was fairly heavy. I now have a CrazyFly Golf Bag with wheels. This bag comes in 2 sizes, 140 and 155. It also comes in a lighter, wheelless bag at 140 cm. I...

Re: Lake Michigan kiting ( Michigan shoreline)

I can speak to the nearer shore of Lake Michigan, Door County, just north of Green Bay. As a kid, I spent my summers at a cottage on the lake just north of Sturgeon Bay. The hot spots in Door County for kiting (and pole bending) are Baileys Harbor for south winds and Ephraim for north winds. Summer ...

Andrew Scheig Memorial

Kiters and Friends As you may know, my son, Andrew, died in his sleep last week. Several of you were at his funeral on Saturday. There was a beautiful plant from the "Kiteboarding Community". Please accept this as my thanks for your donations, thoughts and prayers. Thank you. Bill Scheig

Re: January kite destinations?

Mike, NormanN et al I addition to the rides I had locally last winter, I had 2 great days of riding. Last January, I had to go to Key West for a meeting and took my kites. A local instructor took his student, me and another free-rider into the “outback” northeast of Key West. A small pod of dolphins...

Do you live on Fish Lake? I live on Niagara Lane about 1/4 mile NW of Fish.
Did I see you out there? I drove past and saw 3 people that looked like they were on skates in the middle of the north "bay" of Fish Lk.

Re: Has anyone kited in Aruba?

Dave I have not kited Aruba but I have been to that area windsurfing. I am a recovering windsurfer and have been kiting for about 4 years. I've been to Aruba once, Bonaire 4 times and Margarita once. We much prefer Bonaire. It is less crowded and less touristy. There was an article in Windsurfing Ma...

Re: Kiting around others on the lake

Like Normann, I too was riding at Ramsey Tuesday afternoon. I was struggling to get, and stay, upwind. There was a fair amount traffic from the landing and I did try and stay clear of the boats and/or make my intentions clear. I did get fairly close to one fishing boat; I went behind his boat while ...

Re: launches?

Leah Check the listing of launches and lakes on the "Lakes" tab above. As far as metro lakes go, to the best of my knowledge Ramsey and Waconia are it for south winds. Ramsey is better for SE; there is another little park that you can launch from (and is the preferred launch when there are...
