Re: Main page wind chart is in celsius now.

Sweet thanks, the links work. Though when you first click the Wind icon on top, it shows the old celsius chart. Maybe a general Twin Cities one would work for that one.

Re: Main page wind chart is in celsius now.

Any fix is a good fix, because I go to that page before I go to any other weather forecast sites, even if I'm not kiting. Knowing exactly when it will get cold or start raining is great for knowing if I should take the motorcycle to work or not :D

Main page wind chart is in celsius now.

I noticed a few days ago that all of a sudden the temps are being shown in celsius for some reason. Main page: http://www.lakawa.com/wind/windframe.html May want to double check what graph link you are grabbing as I think they changed something. Here is a good chart: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapC...

When i go test ice depths, I just grab a cordless power drill, and a 1 foot long 1/3rd inch or so drill bit and drill through the ice every 20 feet or so in the area I will be.

Worked great last winter when I was on bush lake, and knew it was safe.

Now that I live on Medicine Lake (on the south end) I plan on kiting as much as possible there.

I've never been on that lake in winter, any dangerous areas in the ice or any other advice?

Checker auto parts has small to medium helmets for $1

Man, I'd get one if they had large, I can't keep using a bike helmet on the ice :( But for those of you with smaller noggins, this is a mega deal on helmets. I haven't seen them in person yet so I don't know how ideal they would be for winter kiting, but they look decent. http://img96.imageshack.us/...

I'm amazed there is still safe ice in the cities.

I am coming back for easter break and am dying to get out again. would any lake in the cities be safe? or just WBL and higher lakes?

<- doesn't want to die because skiis kept him under the broken ice.

I'd love to see raw footage that isnt youtube bastardized. I read some amazon reviews and they are slamming it. Do you guys ever run into issues where severe shocks cause the memory to corrupt, and you cant record anything after till you format the card? I guess I shouldn't expect too much with this...

How safe are the lakes after the thaw? I assumed the season was over. It sucks, right as I get home for spring break and finally have time and a place to kite, the stupid weather skyrockets to 60 and melts all the snow :( I guess I should go drill bush lake and see how it is tomorrow, maybe its not ...
