At Worthington this past weekend, I pitched my tent on Thursday night late, in the dark, and didn't bother to stake it down, as the winds were forecast to be light through the weekend and I was tired, etc. Arriving back at campsite #13 on Friday the 13th (late, again) under a partially obstructed full moon, I immediately noticed that my tent was gone. As I got out of the car and started to look around, Tighe pulled up and I said, "I can't believe somebody stole my tent!" Tighe lent me his flashlight and told me that it probably blew away. Yeah, right. Guess what? It blew away. I found the ground cloth in one campsite and the tent a bit farther away. Tighe got a helluva good laugh when he saw me returning with the fully set up tent on my back.
Okay, then, rule #1 when camping at a windsurfing regatta? My vote would be, make sure to stake your tent. What can I say? This was my first regatta.
A big thanks to Tighe, Scott Chapman, Mike and (Ana)Stacia for sharing the camp site. I had a great time. Good laughs and lots of fun. Tighe, thanks for the half-and-half, Scott, thanks for the bump; Jeff, thanks for the birthday; Vojta, thanks for the chocolate shake and French (or freedom) silk pie breakfast. That was a classic.
Hey, who stole my tent?!
