Minnetonka is 75% - 95% frozen. The smaller bays like Wayzata bay out to kite Island appear to be 99% frozen. Ice will freeze at a rate of 1/2" to 3/4" per day in this cold weather. So by next Sunday or Monday there should be enough ice to begin testing it out. Be careful, Minnetonka can have open spots up to a month behind the rest of the lake. When we get snow the open spots will be much easier to see. I start ice boating at 3 1/2" and switch to kiting when the snow arrives.
