Hey everyone
Don Altmeyer and Kevin Gratton are putting together a kite event this weekend on lake Winnebago in cojunction with the Sturgeon Stampede ice extravaganza (I know this is a late post for it but I found out not long ago and Keving and Don don't check this forum often.)
Anyways, Fond Du Lac, WI got good snow from the last storm, Don has built ramps and kickers for this event and they expect 20-25 kiters for this event. They expect riders from Chicago, Milwaukee and Madison. Me and Larry low boom are going to make the treek from Des Moines, IA today (6 hr drive) I know it is a last minute deal and pretty far from the Twin Cities (5hrs I believe on I-94, then 44 to 151.
Anyways, wanted to make sure I made a post here for anyone that is up for a last minute snow kite event weekend somewhere else.
I wish I would have known earlier about this event and I am sure more people could have made plans.
If you can make it, great, if not ride some good snow somewhere local this weekend.

Kiting event in Fond Du Lac (Lake Winnebago) this weekend

I grew up near Fond du Lac (and have been happily regressing ever since!!
). The best way to get there from the Twin Cities is 94, exit at Mauston onto E 82, this turns in to 23 at hwy 51 or Montello. Take 23 all the way into Fond du Lac (go thru Princeton, Green Lake-my home town, & Ripon). Go N on N. Main St., then R on Winnebago Dr. to get to Lakeside Park or keep following Winnebago Dr. to the E to get to Windpower. I'm guessing the event may be near there. Kevin, et al are well known for putting on great events!!
