November hat trick

Post by drknap »

Still sessions to be had out there. I scored three days in a row at WBL. Conquering the cold adds an extra bit of satisfaction. I couldn't find a companion to ride with though :(

Hard Core

Post by JRN »

Kurt, You get my nomination for the most hard-core, cold water kiter of the season. Hats off to you, Dude!! I've been frustrated by the early dusk. If it is after 3 it hardly seems worth the effort with the Sun drop at 5. I'll have to devise more devious forms of hooky...or wait 'til the big freeze. Anyway it looks like a few SE breezes on Sat...Ramsey anyone? JRN

I second your nomination.

Kurt, this year you've got my vote for 'King of Stoke'. Sometime you need to share your wisdom on making time to feed that stoke. I'm not sure all realize the gymnastics you have to go through to get out when it's good. It's inspiring.

Kurt - do you actually work or is that just some line you give us? :D I was wondering if you got out today....

JRN - YES - hoping for SE at Ramsey this weekend - maybe both Sat & Sun if we're lucky.

Cold hands

Post by Hutch »

last Monday it was cold but I was fine in my dry suit with the exception of my hands. Does anyone out there have any tricks to keeping the circulation in your hands? Hutch

Hands are always a tough one. The Da Kine Mitts seem to work the best for me. The other trick is to keep a cooler full of hot water on shore. Come in and dip your hands in it for a bit and your good to go!

Hutch, I had a similar experience. My solution is to bring hot water in a small cooler. Once my hands start to hurt from the cold, I go in and give them a good soaking in hot water. Once the come back to life, they are good for the rest of the session. You could also try dipping them in the lake right away, and then warming them up in the hot water. My experience has been that once my hands go through one cold/hot cycle, they stay warm for quite a while.
