The Suck hole

Post by BSMITH »

Pepin blew 5.0 for a little while today, leaving most participants skunked. There must be a curse on that friggin' lake! ...and I don't want to hear about any more 4.0's!

Suck hole indeed! I drove back to WBL and got some good 5.2ing in Easterlies at Bellaire. Two lakes and lots of rain. Not a bad day but was it seriously 4M at Ramsey?!

Yes Da Bear Did Blow Hard

Dave:
I was on my 4.6 fully powered so you easily would have been on your 4.0 as yours always at least a sail size smaller than me. It's been a while since the winds were that strong at Ramsey. I forgot how good the swell and port ramps are when it blows hard from the SE or E-SE which is what it was from 12-3. The terrain becomes like Cannon. Too bad we don't get more strong SEs.

The official readings on noaas site were 28 - 35mph , 26-35, and 32 - 43 from 12-2. We enjoyed the big push before the rain arrived. The wind got fluky when the rain reached WB.

Hopefully we'll get our first real cold front one of these days. By the way what happened to those windy 40-50 degree days that spring usually delivers.

KO :D

To fill in more details about Sunday at Ramsey, I arrived at 7:30am to find marginal 12m kiting conditions. Jerry W. arrived a bit later. We both rigged 16's. At 11am the wind cranked up, but so did my family responsibilities.
