Beware of dramatically varied ice thickness this week.

Post by Randy »

This will be a particularly dangerous ice freeze, given the strong winds we've had. We have several sections of our lake that are four inches thick and large parts that are still open. So, if you haven't seen the actual "process" of the lake freeze, knowing what's froze almost two weeks later, you could find yourself traversing from 4-6" ice to less than 2". Suggestion: talk to the people that live on the lake and determine what sections stayed solid ice during the big blow.
For sure, looking forward to the cold spell coming up, this shouldn't be a problem within another week, but for those that can't wait, check it out first.
