Water Temp

Post by danf »

I haven't been out yet this year. How's the water temp at Waconia? Wet suite needed? will a 2/3 work? thanks

the water on waconia has cooled off a bit but on a sunny warm day you should be fine. I have been in my 4/3 for the last month I have used my dry once since I switched to the wetsuite and that was due to 50 degree air temp with no sun.

depends on the person to some degree. I was out on wednesday with a full 3/2 without booties or gloves with no problems. I wasn't even cold when i had to do some swimming once in a while. The sun was shining and it was 70 out so that helped a lot. I went out the week before when it was in the upper 50's with the same setup and it was okay but had a slight chill

I’ve had my 3/2 with no boots or gloves on for the last month but the conditions have been onshore so my float time would be minimal. If I were in the bobbing water for more then 20 min I might me concerned.
