Scott C, Tighe and me met out at the island today. Tighe blazed the way out and made tracks that were easy to follow. The road now looks good.
The few inches of snow made it like a new place. We ripped around and practiced some jumps and stuff. Scott tried out my Toro 16M and was jumping tons and Tighe was on his Slingshot 17M.
I think Tighe had one of the best transitions of the day. He did one of those air jibes and looped the kite before he landed and scooted out the other way. I see Vojta doing that.
I'll call that one a Voltar. I can't claim it but I know what it looks like. When Vojta does it, it takes your breath away as he lands. You think he is going to die but he bottom turns the kite on the landing and slips away on the other tack. AWESOME!!!
Pics from today, not so good, bad light..

Yeah what a great day!
Eric was looking sweet on his snowboard, spinning this way and that, on and off the snow, very smooth. Scott was popping up and down. And I took two of my worst crashes in a long time. One was a total dufus move that supposidely looked something like a air cartwheel resulting in a landing on the shoulder. The other was a vertical drop from what seemed like 20+ feet. In both cases I was loving my helmet. My body will hurt tomorrow. The soft snow really helped though.
One thing I have discovered is that in light conditions you have to be really careful not to stall the kite overhead by hanging on the bar too much in a jump. Eric had a suggestion to remove your rear hand to prevent this and it really helped. The tendency for me is to try and pull myself up with the bar which when on the low end of the kite flares the leading edge and stalls the kite..not good. Watching Alex and Vojta leaning back during jumps really helped. Fun stuff. Fun day.
I'm dreaming of a white, mar...arch, just like the ones I used to know....

Beautiful Pow and good Friends
Eric--
Thanks for letting me fly your Toro. sweet jumping machine.
I didn't even rig a kite, Thanks Eric !*!*!*!*!*!*!*
It's fun to try new kites. You find out a little more about kite dynamics with new kite tried. Tighe nice jumps and back crunching, head bob, landing or two. Your a tuff pilot. It great in fresh tracked powder to see where you took off on your jump and where you landed on your tack back. I may have even completed a Voltar;? All I know is I jumped downwind with a transition and kite loop. I did not see the kite loop. But did need to spin the bar after the jump. The learning curve continues. Thanks for the kite flips and fun guys..
