Next weekend I'm heading up to Whitefish lake with in-laws. I have a great windsurfing launch on lower whitefish for SW-W-Nw-N-NE winds but I haven't been able to find one for S, SE, or E winds.
The boat launches on Gull and Pelican are really sheltered for those directions 9including breezy point resort due to island) and I don't see any launches on whitefish on the N side. Big Trout Lake has a launch that may work on S-SW. I know Mille Lacs is an option but its further and doesn't always blow windsurfing level winds on south winds.
Is there a launch on the on the N - NE side of the big part of North Long Lake along 127? I saw one on a fishing map but other maps don't show it?
What about that boat launch next to 371 on north long lake? Is that part of the lake too small? Are chiggers an issue there?
Thanks for any advice. There are so many big, beautiful lakes up there, I can't believe there isn't a little launch somewhere on the N side of those lakes.

If it blows you're welcome to launch from my parents cabin on Horseshoe lake, just east across hwy 3 from Big Pelican. The lake is much much smaller than Pelican or Long but works awesome for S-SE, my parent's cabin is on the east lake, east side of the point about 6 docks from the end. The shape of the lake at that point is like a funnel if it blows from S-SE. If you're interested shoot me an email curtis (at) cklahr (dot) com and I'll get you directions. I'm there every weekend. If you do find someplace good on Pelican or other let me know and we could hook up.
Here's the lake, I'm on the red dot.
