Has anyone had trouble with their kiting gear? I used a snowboard bag and packed a 165, wetsuit, bars, pump, and two kites to the Netherlands and back. The hot Dutch chic at the counter gave me a hard time on the way back, but looked up "wakeboard" in her little book and let me go through... maybe it was because I flirted with her...

I also got a 147, suits, and kites to Mississippi and back without incident. I probably could have stuffed a third smaller kite in, no problem, or used it as a carry-on. My 8.5 is a pretty small package.

I had a little trouble with my windsurfing rigs. Then again it was going to the dominican republic. I just didn't end up taking it. I tried the whole snowboard bag idea but that going to the carribean, the people thought i was a little weird.

None of us had any trouble going to Padre on Sun Country. I had mine in a snowboard bag, Scott had a big 180cm kiteboard bag and Dave had a large snowboard bag. They did ask and checked but no charge. I said it was a wakeboard. Scott said surfboard.

NSI in the Gorge sells these. Yeah it is a good idea.

I've had trouble on America West - one way they didn't charge me, but on coming back they took $80.00 out of my pocket.

It seems like it is often up to the person who takes your baggage.

That golf bag is sweet!! I'm going to Brazil Friday and very worried about my getting my 151 through on American. A buddy couldn't get his SS Jarvis through on United and he's a pilot for United! Might have to rent a board down there. I have a hard box that looks like a guitar case. Would it help to put Metallica, "Speed of Sound Tour" on it, or just call it a wakeboard?

Anybody rented/been to Jerry's at Lake Araruama near Rio? Guess it's time to upgrade and get a smaller board.
