"In the Line of Wind."...This is the statement that a sailor MUST keep in mind always when on the water.
The "Key" to hydroplaning ("planning") is...(sometimes) to find the "LINE OF WIND," in the event it's not obvious.
Sometimes the wind is just "Screaming" at you (on-shore wind). Other times you might launch from a site and
it's not obvious where it in is until you get out of "that cove" or further out beyond "that" peninsula that might be blocking side-shore wind.
Sometimes there just isn't enough wind to even look for a "line of Wind." Sometimes it's just a thin (20 ft. wide) band of wind shooting down from a Coulee or a burst of wind turbo charged from two peninsulas (not quite connected) and sometimes the line of wind might be half a mile wide.
But when you can find it, stay in it...... "Stay in the Line of Wind."
Quetzalcoatl out.
"In the Line of Wind"..........
