Calhoun Master Plan meeting tonight 6pm Jones Harrison

Post by Chummers »

Please attend this if you can so we can make our voices heard against the AWFUL ideas in the Calhoun Master plan that will remove windsurfing from the north side of Lake Calhoun.

In case you weren't aware, they want to install a boat launch and a pier on the north side of Calhoun where windsurfers currently launch. Not only will our launch area be removed, or at least greatly reduced, but the new pier and boat slips will make it very difficult to get back to shore from the water.

Final CAC meeting May 10 at Jones-Harrison Residence
Posted on April 26, 2016
The final meeting of the Calhoun-Harriet Master Plan Community Advisory Committee (CAC) will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 6-8:30 pm at the Jones-Harrison Residence, 3700 Cedar Lake Ave. The meeting was originally scheduled at Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board Headquarters, but concerns over traffic delays due to road construction and rush hour congestion prompted a shift to the Jones-Harrison residence.
The meeting agenda focuses on prioritizing projects to help allocate approximately $3 million in improvements that will begin in 2017. After the May 10 CAC meeting, MPRB staff will compose the draft Calhoun-Harriet Master Plan over the next few months and submit it to the Board of Commissioners later this summer. A 45-day comment period will open once the Board receives the draft Master Plan. During that time the public can submit written comments regarding the Master Plan and its recommendations. A public hearing is anticipated in early fall 2016.
