I made it out here to Skyline in Utah this past Tuesday (December 15th). Just made it on the backside of the storm but it still kept snowing 2 more days. The parking lot was not plowed at first and had waist deep powder in it. Some of the areas behind piles and in ditches were overhead powder. No fun powder kiting in stuff that you cannot get your board to lift you more than thigh deep while under full power of the kite. Had 2 good days (Friday and Saturday) but got to kite everyday before this next one moved in and I had to get off of the mountain on Sunday. The snow has packed down good but you still would "post hole" up to your crotch in most spots. The times I had to go to the kite, I found crawling more efficient than trying to walk. Snowshoes always went with me for backup.
Looks like this next one is going to be the big one with some even bigger snowfall totals. Half of the snow from this storm that hit on Sunday and is supposed to continue till next Friday will put the snow pack higher than I left it in February of last year. Gotta love El-nino. But stuck here in Springville UT waiting till I can get up the mountain again. Looks like best chance for visibility will be Saturday.
Still, I wish it would snow back on the plains in north central IA or eastern SD.
Like the Christmas lights on my house?

Re: Skyline snowed in!
Looking good Matt! So great you are kiting on the edge. Great to hear your updates of where the good terrain kiting spots are near Minnesota!

Charlie made some tracks early on the first clear day and took some great vids.

He really does the powder justice. And this storm has probably dumped more than was there in this vid.
