August 8- Forest Lake Event

Post by Randy »

Almost fifteen years ago we hosted a windsurf event with exhibition kiting from our core experienced riders at the time. The location was Forest Lake's Lakeside Memorial Park. A lot's happened since then and now the City of Forest Lake has stepped up to sponsor the Northern Lights Paddle, Yoga and Music Fest August 8. From 2000 to 2011 I held a closed mind to SUP. Today it may be my most favored board sport.
Anybody who's been riding awhile comes to recognize the unique common characteristics of displacing our body on a single surface. The more we ride the better our balance and rhythm. The more variety in the boards we ride the more sensitive we are to foot pressure and how we "cultivate stability on an unstable platform". The advent of design in SUP and windsport boards has been phenomenal. Each board has its unique personality. Anyway, I'm hoping you'll consider joining us August 8 to celebrate boardsports, balance and rhythm. If you haven't tried SUP, come check it out. If you have, come and participate in recreational and competitive courses. The event is from 8am-4pm and you can check it out at:

For years we've struggled with local governments to get through all the red tape to host an event. This is a rare opportunity (much like Worthington) where the city pulls out the red carpet for boardheads. Please check it out, like the page on Facebook, and do what you can to free your calendar for a great day at the beach.
ps. Looking for volunteers to help run the event. Give me a call if you're able: 612-590-0970
