Safe Ice on Swede?

Post by Chummers »

Can anyone confirm safe ice on Swede or anywhere else? I would love to get out on Friday.

I was just wondering the same. Glad you posted. Hope we get a confirm soon. You'd think it's got to be ready or at least close. I saw an ice fisher person out yesterday on a small lake in Plymouth. It's still pushing the envelope a little to close for me but a sign that temps are in the right direction.

4-5" It's safe. Doherty never fell through once today. I'm heading over tomorrow.

Hi all

I am looking at the forecasts and it looks like either Wed or Thursday afternoon could be good for a snowkiting season opener on Swede...
Anybody in???

I plan to be there early Thursday morning. If anybody gets out Wednesday afternoon, please post the conditions (confirmed ice thickness, if the snow bonded, etc).

 HOW ABOUT THE ICE ON LAKE COMO?.. :?: ..IN ITALY! :!:

... :D :D :D unfortunately no lake como (which btw never freezes..)
this year for me.. 'sota is what I get.. :D :D

so hit swede around 10.30 am
wind was perfect (18/20 super steady) but surface a disaster.. just hard frozen slush..
no snow cover..
maybe rideable but wouldn't be fun..
we need more snow..
as I was driving back a bit disappointed though spotted an open field just outside of watertown..
and said what the heck,
got to open the season!
pumped the kite and rode for half hour or so..

not much snow but very soft..
wind was more gusty there as there were trees around but overall it was fun!!
but now we need more snow!!!
