Registered, rooms booked, and looking forward to see the gang again! Anytime to Mille Lacs is a great time!

Snow condition reports for the big lake? Should we bring our hockey skates? It's all good!!

Cheers :P

My family is staying at the Garrison Inn.

Anybody coordinating a swap?

I'm in. Got the room by the pool again. I'm not sure who will be staying this year. If you need a place to crash, there should be room on the floor for more.

Right now it looks like we will get some fresh snow up there on Friday.

Just made reservations at the casino. I guess there's a 2 night minimum stay at garrison inn. plan to be there early sat morning. I wonder if there's gonna be some kind of freestyle competition? It'd be fun to watch and possibly do. I don't think I wanna be riding 20+ miles on a snowboard

I'm thinking of heading to the Crossing. Although... I have a couple questions.

What if there is really lite wind? I have a 13m but if it's super lite what happens?

Second, I'm still pretty new and the 20miler sounds FUN. What does the course look like? (I can handle a down winder but if there are upwind sections of the course I should stay away as I'm working on my control.)

Is it bracketed starts? Like I mentioned earlier... I'm new, and once my kite is up I tend to be going....So how does a start work?

2WD? Think if I stayed in garrison I could catch a lift onto the lake? Long way to walk in ski boots... I'd like to avoid driving if possible on the lake.

Thanks for your responses.

20 miles might sound fun, but if conditions aren't up to par (how much snow and wind were gonna have) you'll probably regret even starting. This is speaking just from opinion. Skis are alot more comfortable than being strapped into a board with your feet at an odd angle for a long period of time. Im young and I thought I could try making a small crossing across rice lake up here in duluth, even with good snow and wind, I got half way and decided to turn back, as my ankles and calf muscles were beyond sore! I'd rather spend my time freeriding, hitting the terrain park, and talking with friends over riding in just a straight direction for a long time (seems like a waste of valuable time). I guess thats why they call it the crossing!

On the other hand (as of monday) there is supposed to be some decent wind ahead. Can anyone give a report on snow? Did you head up to the Rum River last weekend Bryce?

I hope that drop going onto the lake isnt as bad as it was last year!

The Garrison Inn has had a two-night minimum for the past few weekends due to special events. We are fortunate that they don't consider us a special event, so we don't have a two-night minimum or the higher rate. We certainly hope that the majority of the rooms are booked for both nights.

dave12341234, camping out at Rum River. It was a fun time with the wind blowing good on Sunday!

Yup the crossing can be hard, but I have never regretting giving it a go! It is fun when you get neck and neck with someone and get cruising along! Skis might be a slightly faster if your used to them... but don't try them for the first time during the race... you definitely use some different muscles.

Give the crossing a try! There are people of all different skill levels going to race!

Thanks for the info guys!!! Guess what..?? Just pulled the trigger on the Garrison Inn and sent off my reg info.
I'll be there Saturday-Sunday.

Hoping for some wind... some of the weather mappers didn't look overly optimistic. Either way should be fun fun!
