Has anyone used the gopro kitehero mnt? If so, is it worth the $$? I want to try one on my frenzy, but im thinking it probably won't work with the Y line front line setup. Anyone know or know someone that's used it?
thanks
Jack

Re: Speaking of Gopro....
I have one....didn't work well for me. I couldn't get the camera to stay secured on the lines (fell off twice) and mounting the camera onto the kitehero was difficult and not very solid (the camera would flop forward/backward versus staying where you angled it).
I've seen good video posted from others, so maybe the product has improved since I got mine last winter.

Barry Peterson took this picture on his Go Pro while doing a SPI downwinder. I don't know how he attaches it but I think it's a cool picture. If you look close you can see he's about 1/2 way up on a wave that is still over his head. Barry and I did a downwinder on Tuesday that was the most fun I've ever had riding waves.
Temps in the 80s and warm water so no wetsuit needed.
After watching Judd rip up the waves on a few other 10-13 mile downwinders I learned how to ride toe side out and slash off the waves coming from the SE.
What a rush: the power of those waves + kite coming across the wind window + going downwind = HUGE SPEED
and then you can ride on the smooth face back and forth. I was my 137 SX and realized just why I have a wave oriented board for my small board - that small slashy feeling was a blast.
What a great trip!! It was fun to see all the > 20 Minnesotians including the fun rides in the water and also the entertaining dinners. We are fortunate to have such a great group of people in our kiteboarding community!! Thanks to Terry Dunklee for going down with me - right after we landed we were treated to a 13 mile downwinder on a north wind (my gps said we went 32 miles) so we were instantly welcomed to the gulf riding.

Yes, thats a cool shot indeed. Im not really sold on the design of that mount. I think Im going to try something a bit different. I might modify one of the flat stick-on mounts and try zip-tieing it onto the x-bridle of my frenzy, it will take some experimenting for sure.
Anyone else had had experience with this setup?
thanks,
Jack

Re: Speaking of Gopro....
To take the picture I used a GoPro Hero 5 (not the new wide HD camera) with the standard wrist-mount plus 1) a simple velcro extension I cobbled together and 2) a strip of padding to tuck under the camera to adjust the aim... the amount you need depends on how the center strut is constructed (every kite is a little bit different) and so it affects how much you roll up this strip of padding to aim it right.
