I had a great time at Waconia the other day. The surface is great for edging with a snowboard even if the landings are a little hard. I'd like to get out today but it would be nice to find a spot that's closer to the city. Anybody kiting at Tonka today?

Is the snow on Tonka as good as it is at the Wac?

I wonder what the best (shore-based) launch for a NW would be...

Hoping to get out before the sun goes down!

I have read some posts saying the ruts from 4wheelers and such makes it a bit tricky for lines, but im not too worried. Snow looks crusty and hard, but should be just fine to hold an edge. If anybody knows of a good place to launch for NW winds I would like to know also...

I could walk down the hill and launch on Tonka. However I think I am heading to Waconia for the better snow. For those wanting to ride Tonka I would use Cresent beach in Tonka Bay near Shorewood on East Upper lake. Great wind fetch on NW. Less tracks on Waconia.

Sounds like the Wac is the call.

Hope to make it out there!

Wac was the shizzle today. Conditions are excellent. 2009 ended sweetly.

wow yeah. Unbelievably nice. Lots of massive untracked areas to carve and carve and carve and carve. So much fun. I think I did a could 2-3 mile downwind runs, singing, completely lost in the zone.

The conditions are only a tad bit crusty on top, so at speed you're sorta on top of the pack, but when you carve you don't even notice it. Nice cushion if you go down.

What a magical and different theme, to a lake I have ridden hundreds of times. The quiet, the brilliant blue overhead, to chance to hang out ON the lake post sess....all very different yet very much the same.

Great sharing the stoke out there yesterday and then sharing a beer at Floyds with good friends...what a great way to end the year.
