Waterproof Helmet Cam.
Hey Guys.
Have any of you locals used one of these:
http://www.viosport.com/store/customer/ ... cat=&page=
I'm more interested in it for kayaking trips with Emily down the river, but it would be pretty damn cool for kiteboarding too. I'm curious as to how to keep a waterproof seal for my camcorder though. Even with a dry sack it seems those pesky wires would let water in.
If anyone has any info or experience, please let me know!

That would awasome. I was hoping to make a kiteboarding video this winter but something like that would be sweet to use.
I have seen a couple helmat cams but none that have been water proof yet. That would be a cool shot seeing the person looking around in the air and the kite and stuff, maybe even put one on the kite itself.

The Vio Sport Water cam works great. We've used it with the recording cam in a Pelican Case(water tight) with a hole drilled in it with the water proof cable sticking out. Make sure to Silicone the heck out of the hole in the case(your cable is permanatly in the case). The smaller the camers the better.
You can then put the Case in a back pack and run the cables where you need them. This is a good system if it makes sense to you. Its worked for us.
TEST THE CASE 1ST.

Thanks Holmes!
Useful stuff there. I wish the sucker wasn't so expensive! I found another place selling them and they have some videos of the thing begin blasted by water. Even a really cool totally underwater video too with a "yet to be released" scuba model. They're at:
http://www.cyclopscam.com/videos.htm
The only difference I can see in the camera specs is that the cyclops cam has an minimum illumination of 0.1 lux and the adveture cam is 0.05. Is it worth twice as much money for the light sensitivity? Can I edit the video later and just change the contrast if it's a little too dark?

Not really Scott..
With that thing straped to my head guess who is going to be the star of the videos? That's right buddy! You! haha.. I won't be anywhere in the thing, just lots of water spraying as I constantly lose my edge and skip across the water! If I get one, any footage I take will most definatly go up here and maybe in the long run I can make a longer vid. I think it would be fun!

I found out my camcorder didn't have an analog line in.. Doh! So I tracked down a bargain camcorder that will do the recording. I'll get one dude sooner or later. With xmas coming hopefully I can just ask for the moola! When I do fnally get one, I might have to borrow it to you so you can get some footage of you guys kiting down in the cities. Then I'd have alot more footage to work with for a longer version. I think it would be really fun to make a LAKAWA DVD! Plus now that I'll soon have two camcorders maybe multi angle? haha.. But since I might not get to the cities much to hang out with you guys we could still get a larger collection.

I might wanna pitch in for it, I just would wanna do a little motocross with it in the summer.
Also about the LAKAWA DVD, I would definately do some filming and the editing+send out the DVDs. I use an eMac to edit that works great along with a great editing program called final cut pro. I think we could do some cool things with it and the lakawa DVD.
I have a little sony Mini DV camera, and definately some multy angles, just set the cameras up on a tripod during a good session on a kicker, one on either side, that would be cool.
