I'm heading up to Whitefish lake and have a great launch for SW-W-NW-N-NE winds. I've looked on maps and droven by lakes like Pelican looking for launches for South, SE, or E (especially S) and I haven't found any. Places like breezy point have a big island in front of them. Not aware of a windsurfing launch on Gull for S or SE winds. Does anyone know of some?
Thanks
Kevin

Any ideas for launches for South Winds up by Brainerd?

I was up near Brainerd all last week on Agate Lake (just west of Gull). I did a little pioneering for future reference and found a pretty good (maybe excellent) launch for south winds on gull. I didn't feel comfortable kiting alone at a new destination with nobody around...maybe next time.
If you are heading west from 371 on 77, turn left on Birchwood hills (Birch - something anyway). This is about a 1/2 mile before zorbas and Bar Harbor. it is pretty easy to find. Follow this road to the end. After you cross a little bridge you can park. The road basically ends and turns into a driveway for someones mansion on the point. There is a little walking path to the right that will bring you to the open water (maybe 50 yards).
I know the water is shallow (depth finder read 3 ft) for a long ways out from when I was boating on the lake a few weeks ago. I would love to try it some weekend on a S. wind.
