St. Croix on Sat.

It's looking like some good northly winds on Saturday which is perfect for St. Mary's beach (or whatever it's called). It's a nice sandy launch although you need to unload and park a block away. I'm hoping to sail there Sat. afternoon. Just need grandma to watch the kids but they live close to there.
Anyone else up for it?

Mike W. showed me the beach last Sat. and that portion of the river was solid ice. I would hope it's open now. If the wind lines up I'd give it a try.

Drove over I-94 this morning. Still a lot of ice down by St. Mary's. That still leaves the Hudson Marina. One area I haven't checked out yet would be some of the North Hudson launches (Brown's Beach and the Fairy Landing). If the river is open North of the Hudson Marina the other lauches would provide better conditions in a N wind. I'll probably check it out on my way home tonight.

How about "Hok Sa La" park on Pepin (the boat landing just past the wayside park). If it's NNW, it lines up perfect. Looks good on the experimental.

Stillwater: Open
Bayport Marina/North Hudson area: ICE
Hudson Marina: Open
St. Mary's Point: ICE

Hok-si-la/Pepin sounds appealing....

Thanks for the midnight updates Dave. Is it decent/sailable from the Hudson marina on a N-NW. I know pepin would be better but I'm pretty sure I can't make it there but I can make it to St. Croix. Something is better than nothing...

Terry are game, I'll see if Pete L. is up for it!! Can U rig at launch @ the park w/ the bandshell? Looks nice and grassy from the street...Probabaly head over mid 2 late Morning. Jim N

I think the bandshell is just north of the old railroad bed that now is a walking path sticking out into the river. There was ice in that bay last week.The marina launch is just south of that and may have a wind shadow on a north wind. I've only sailed it on south.

I'm thinking to leave here around 10-10:30 and chech out Beanies and take another look at St. Marys. If neither works then look at the marina.
We could still make it to Pepin by 1-2
