A big windsurf board ensures that you'll get "some" good fast windsurfing at least on a fairly regular basis.
If you work a day shift Monday through Friday (like I do) then we only get two days out of the seven days in a week
to sail. That means we have to hope that there's decent wind on only 28.6% of the seven possible sailing days in a week.
Those sailors who don't work ( or retired?) or work the night shift can sail 100% of the seven days in a week.
What a difference! One groups has the chance to sail 100% of the week and the other group gets 28.6% of the sailing
time in a week. We hope Mother Nature chooses Saturday and Sunday as the days to give us the wind.
Since here in Minnesota we don't have good wind everyday, we have to make the best out of the "Two" days that we get
every week to "Maybe" have wind on these two days. The others who are free every day...can go ANY day (or can pick an choose) when to go and when there is wind.
There often will be good wind on some day or two of any given week. But "us" "weekend windsurf warriors" just have to go
when there's some wind on the weekend.
Therefore, don't just have a smaller windsurf board (like 112-120 liter board) you need at least a 148 liter and wide board
(75cm) board so that you can do some hydroplaning! (with a 7.0 meter sail) in hopefully at least 15 mph wind.
If you plan to just use a 112 to 120 liter board and nothing bigger then you will only get to go planning about once a month.
With my prescription (the bigger board) you might get to go planning once every weekend (that's four times a month).
So: if you already have a wider board,,,KEEP IT! If you don't, "GET ONE"!!!
Quetzalcoatl out.
If weekends are all you get to sail, then U need a big board
