Big day in da Gorge, june 3 2014

for those of you that have sailed in the gorge, you know that sometimes the Columbia River can really deliver.. Some days are big, some days are huge and a few days are monstrous !! Tuesday was one of those extremely big days, many locals claimed it to be the biggest day they ever seen. I was there and got to experience a day off epic proportion.
At the hatchery ( a few miles west of Hood River ) the river gets very deep ( almost 90' ). Wind funnels through the steep canyon to the west and strengthens. On tuesday the wind avereged 35 mph with some gusts to almost 50mph
. The strong wind in combination with a strong current produced some massive 10-15 swells.
